Once upon a time…

I popped a straightforward self-portrait into @portraitai and was utterly fascinated with the incredibly bizarre results. I began using the same portrait in every AI app to test, and used @reface on various images I adored; actors, models, actorslashmodels… resulting in an ever-growing library of self-portraits of me as well… everyone. I find them hilarious, creepy, and dystopian – a singular face appearing everywhere yet different each time.

I then gained access to Midjourney and love the freedom it gives to control each prompt with weights. It’s the ultimate mashup. I adore the ‘/imagine’ command. You really can. I tried it out with all my favorite artists, naturally.

In the style of…

Soon thereafter I began trying prompts suggesting props, lighting, camera angles, colors, lenses, film stock, and thought… “what if I directed a series of ‘me’ and all my favorite things – with a hint of the styles from all of my favorite film directors (and directors of photography!)”?

Director’s Cuts
a series combining all of my favorite things with a dash of cinema

I hope you’re on a big screen – if not I recommend landscape mode for Director’s Cuts 👌. Ty for visiting!
